Library Honors Events

York County Libraries’ Honors Events highlight prominent library supporters and community members. A key component of the Honors Event is to raise funds in the name of our Honorees. The host libraries then use these proceeds to help add to their collection.

In addition, some libraries have established book endowments. Book Endowments allow our libraries to continuously add materials to their collections in the name of prior Honorees. At the time of the event, the Honoree’s favorite books are plated and added to the library’s collections.

Community members are invited to attend Library Honors Events at no cost. During the event, tribute speakers and the Honoree share remarks. Attendees are then welcome to attend a brief reception after the event. Most receptions serve lite fare where attendees have the opportunity to socialize with the Honoree and guests.

Martin Library hosted the first Honors Event in 1995. Since that time, Guthrie Memorial Library, Kreutz Creek Library, Paul Smith Library of Southern York County, and Glatfelter Memorial Library have added Honors Events to their annual calendars.
