Curbside Pick Up FAQ

Due to the the significant increase of COVID-19 cases locally and nationwide, Dover Area Community Library is temporarily offering curbside service only. You can view a three minute video from our director here or read below for the details!
 
How can I get books? 
Place a book on hold using our online catalog
Call us at 717-292-6814 to place a hold over the phone.  (Holds placed via phone are limited to 3 per call.) 
Check out our children’s book bundles on our SignUpGenius or call to see what’s available. 
 
How does curbside work? 
Once you get a notification your hold is ready, give us a call (717-292-6814) and let us know you’re on your way.   We will check out the books for you so they’re ready when you get here.  Once you arrive, drive through the cones and call us to let us know you’re here so we can bring them to your car. 
 
Can I browse the shelves? 
No, members are temporarily unable to come inside the library to browse.  
 
Can I use the computers? 
No, the public is unable to use the computers at this time.  If you email us ([email protected]) we’ll be happy to print things out for you.  Please include your name, phone number, and number of copies you need along with the item you need printed attached. 
 
Can I make copies? 
We’d prefer you email us but if that is not an option, give us a call while you’re here, we’ll run out to get the materials you’d like copied and copy them for you.  We ask you stay inside your car while we are making copies. 
 
Where can I return materials? 
Please use our purple book drop outside the library for any returns. 
 
Are magazines, DVDs, board books, hotspots, etc available to check out? 
Yes!  All materials can be placed on hold using our online catalog
 
Should I wear a mask? 
Visitors, age two and older, should wear masks or appropriate face coverings when picking up materials.
 
Are there any programs at the library? 
There are several virtual programs but nothing in person at this time.  We are continuing our Grab and Go Monday activities.  Just give us a call and we’ll bring one out to your car while supplies last! For all programs check out our calendar
 
What are book bundles? 
We offer book bundles for kids.  You may email Miss Jenny (Include child’s age/interests/library card number) at [email protected] to request a personalized book bundle or choose from a variety on our SignUpGenius.  You can also give us a call to see which book bundles are available. 
 
Are all York County Libraries doing curbside pickup? 
Some York County Libraries are offering different styles of service at this time. Check out https://www.yorklibraries.org/reopening/ or the individual library’s website for more information.  
 
Are library hours changing? 
No.  Our current hours are below.  Be sure to follow us on Facebook or Instagram for any future changes to our schedule.

  • Fridays 10-1
  • Saturdays 10-1
 
How long will curbside last? 
We will reevaluate our service model at the end of January.
