The Dog Days of Summer

Looking at the calendar, I realized that it is August, what happened to June and July? We are well into the Dog Days of Summer.

It has been so busy at Martin Library we barely noticed how fast the summer passed. In spite of the heat and rain, the Children’s Room is  full of children and their families. Kids are listening to stories, creating art, building blocks, playing games with friends, attending concerts, making their own music and learning while dancing.

The Teen Forum is overflowing as well. Teens are volunteering at our SummerQuest table, teaching math and art classes to kids and other teens, planning for upcoming events, decorating cupcakes and just relaxing with friends.

We are still doing summer at the library.

SummerQuest is still in full swing. Our breakfast and lunch programs continue until August 9, kids are still reading and collecting prizes. The parks are still full of families doing GO hikes and our building is filled with our community members. Books are flying off of our shelves, both physical and digital. The sounds of music and children laughing fill the library. Volunteers are shelving books, helping our members in our computer labs and keeping the building looking good.

Don’t worry though, even with school starting soon our staff and volunteers are ready for you, your family and friends to enjoy all of the things  you can only find at your library.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and stop by soon and say hello.
