From Birth to 100 Years and Beyond

Welcome to Martin Library! Our library sits on the corner of Market and Queen Streets in downtown York. Our fabulous staff and I are excited about the opportunity to meet the information and literacy needs of your entire family. Let me introduce myself, I am Mina Edmondson, the Director of Martin Library, and have been a part of York County Libraries for over 20 years. I love this place and all the library offers to our community.

Enough about me, let’s talk about you, your family, your friends and your community. Did you know we provide services to every individual in our community from birth to 100 years and beyond? Moms, dads, grandparents and caregivers can bring their youngest children to participate in Baby and Toddler Story Times and Family Place. You will learn how to help your child get a strong start while you are making new friends. As your child gets older, we continue to offer learning opportunities for every age, preschool and evening story times, afterschool access to computers and learning activities. We offer STEAM programs such as Robotics and Lego® Club.

Check out our Teen Forum for a full collection of Young Adult titles as well as opportunities for teens to interact with friends from many local school districts.  You will find students writing poetry, creating their own art, tinkering with technology, using the computers and generally having a great time.  Members of the Teen Advisory Board (TAB) volunteer throughout the library and gain leadership skills. (Hint: This looks great on a resume or school admission application.)

Did you know we have computers available for all ages to use? Your elementary students, teens and adults have separate labs designed to meet individual needs. We also have laptops available where caregivers can work and oversee their children playing. The Tech Guru loves to provide support as you learn about a new tech device or answer general tech questions.

The adults in your life can browse the largest collection in York County and request items from any York County Library. Throughout the year, our members attend concerts, have discussions on topics relevant to our community, and participate in book discussions and art activities. You can check out book bags designed to assist book groups, especially in senior centers.

Come and experience everything Martin Library offers to the community.
