Because libraries create healthier communities.
Boards of Directors are essential to maintaining the well-being of a library. Within York County Libraries, eight of our thirteen libraries have their own Board of Directors. These boards are responsible for overseeing the policies, regulations, and funds of the library, while also remaining informed on the current needs of the library. By keeping close contact with the library and its staff, the board can effectively make decisions about spending, as well as immediate and long-term objectives to better support the needs of the library.
Paul Smith Library Board Of Directors
The Board of Directors of Paul Smith Library of Southern York County is responsible for ensuring that the needs of the library are met through fundraising and community outreach. By serving as advocates for the library, the board seeks to inform the surrounding community of the ongoing needs of the library. In addition, the Board of Directors also work to ensure that the state and local funding is received from year to year. With these funds, the board creates a budget for appropriate library spending while overseeing library activities.
The board also conducts an annual appeal from the residents of the community, as well as takes part in the annual golf tournament with the Rotary Club of Southern York County.
