Paul Smith Library to Honor Jim & Jean Holley

It is with great pride that the Paul Smith Library of Southern York County announces our rescheduled second annual Honors Event and invites you to join our celebration on our new date. Jim and Jean Holley will be honored at a special reception at the library on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 2 pm. Our newly established Honors Event recognizes leaders who have made our community a better place to live and learn.

About The Holleys

Mr. Holley, a United States Marine and Vietnam veteran, and Mrs. Holley, a former schoolteacher, have been valuable members of the Southern York County community throughout their lives. They Holleys purchased their first home together in New Freedom in 1967. True to their Southern York County roots, Jim and Jean met in 1961 at the Shrewsbury Carnival. They were married in 1965 and have two children, Laura and Linda.

Serving Their Community

Both Jim and Jean have served their community in a variety of ways. They served as members of the Jaycees and Jayceettes. In 1968 Jean represented the New Freedom Women’s Club on a commission tasked with the creation of a local library. When the Few Freedom and Shrewsbury Public Libraries were slated to merge and create the Sothern York County Library (now known as the Paul Smith Library of Southern York County), Jim served on the fundraising committee to finance the construction. Mr. Holley was instrumental in procuring the site for the library through a long-term lease with the YMCA. Throughout the Holleys’ involvement with the library, Jean volunteered at the circulation desk, presented story times, managed public relations, and served as assistant librarian.

A key component of our Honors event is to raise funds in the name of our Honorees. This support is vital to Paul Smith Library and allows us to continue providing valuable services and programs to the community. If you have not already made a gift, we welcome your contribution to the Jim & Jean Holley Honors Fund and invite you to enjoy a special day with us to honor two treasured community leaders.

Please recognize our valued friends by submitting an RSVP and/or making a gift in their name by Friday, August 13th. Event registration and gifts can be made online or by mail to:
