Summer Reading

Ah … sweet summer.  Time to relax at the beach or in the yard with a good book.  Do you have a plan for your summer reading?

I like to challenge myself each summer with a reading goal (and a treat at the end!)

Last year, I re-read many of my childhood favorites like Alice In Wonderland, Misty of Chincoteague, Little Women and Heidi.  I still loved reading those books and it is interesting to read them from an adult perspective.

Here are some ideas for summer book goals.

  • Read only classics – 1984, A Tale of Two Cities, To Kill A Mockingbird, Fahrenheit 451, Moby Dick or Pride and Prejudice.
  • Read only Non-fiction – learn a new craft, get better with your finances, or grow that garden this year.
  • Read only Biographies – First Ladies, Actors, Comedians or Heroes.
  • Read an author that you are not familiar with every month.
  • Reread a series that you enjoyed – Earth’s Children by Jean Auel, The Virgin River Series by Robyn Carr, The Women’s Murder Club Series by James Patterson, or the Joanna Brady Series by J.A. Jance.

Hint:  A great way to see the titles and order of all the books in a series is to go to fantasticficton.com and enter the name of the author.  All books by that author will show up grouped by series and date published.

Enjoy your summer reading!!!
