Finding Comfort in Music During the 2020 Pandemic

In April 2020, a great number of public libraries (including our local YCL ones) were temporarily closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. During this sad time of not being able to work at or visit my library, I found great comfort in a song that was released by one of my favorite Canadian musicians–John K. Samson. Samson (who previously achieved some success with bands The Weakerthans and Propagandhi) released the song “Millennium For All” on April 14th, 2020 to protest new security measures, which some people viewed as invasive and unwelcoming, at Winnipeg’s Millennium Library. I however did not realize this at the time I heard the song and I assumed it was about the library closures we were experiencing. I played this song every time I was missing my library and I hope you can find enjoyment and comfort in this song too.
