What is the source of your inspiration?
Recently, journaling has captured my imagination. I am also inspired by old photos, newspapers, and documents. Often the two meet and result in a work that is not only interesting, but therapeutic.
How would you describe your art?
A combination of analog and digital collage inspired by found objects and inspirational writings.
What do you enjoy most about creating new art?
Trying a new technique, media or colour combination. It’s great to discover something new and find out what works and what should be left behind.
How do you start new work? Is your process always the same? If not, how does it change?
I like to search through my collection of paper and ephemera. This method remains the same from project to project. Recently I have included writings that inspire me. It could be from a book I am reading or a quote I came across. The creative journey can go in any direction. That’s what keeps it fun and a challenge.
Do you have a favourite or “go to” technique when starting a work?
I don’t have a “go to” at the moment. I am trying to find new ways of looking at collage and art journaling.
Do you ever experience a creative block? If so, how do you rejuvenate your creativity?
Yes, I do. It has been especially difficult during COVID. My enthusiasm for activities I used to enjoy disappeared. I found journaling helped, one of the reasons I decided to explore this subject for the current exhibit.

Do you have any current or future projects you’d like to share?
The altered journals have been front and center on my work table. It’s an enjoyable process…therapeutic as well.
