The Dillsburg Area Public Library’s featured artists for May and June 2022 are all from the Hanover Arts Guild. Our art wall coordinator Shelby Pizzarro caught up with one of the artists, Sherry Withers:
What is the source of your inspiration?
Observing the works of other artists in galleries and social media
How would you describe your art?
Impressionism
What do you enjoy most about creating new art?
Challenging myself to learn from the previous painting
How do you start new work? Is your process always the same? If not, how does it change?
I like to start with several thumbnail sketches and color samples before apply paint to the canvas. Then I proceed with my darkest value, then medium and ending with the highlights.
Do you have a favorite medium? Has your preference changed over the years?
I work in oils but also enjoy watercolor sketching on site.
