Volunteer Spotlight: Kay

Kay Yerger is one of our newest volunteers, having worked at the Dillsburg library for the past 4 months. A Lewisberry native, she graduated from Cedar Cliff High School and studied at the Harrisburg Institute of Medical Arts. She served for many years in the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and worked in various positions as a medical assistant, a library assistant and a teacher’s aide for the Northern School District.

She lived in Dillsburg for 45 years and is now a resident of Upper Allen Township. During her years in Dillsburg she and her husband grew and preserved most of the family’s food in their organic garden. The mother of 3 sons, she has 6 grandchildren whom she loves reading to. Her favorite things about working at the library are meeting new people and feeling useful.

There are lots of volunteer opportunities at the library! Whether you staff the front desk or work behind the scenes, volunteering at the library is a great way to meet new people and give back to your community. Stop by for a volunteer application today!
