Volunteer Spotlight: Amy

Amy Carl has volunteered at the Dillsburg Area Public Library for the past 6 years. Getting to know the patrons and staff at the library is her favorite part of volunteering here. Her favorite authors are Debbie Macomber, Nora Roberts and Cheryl Woods. She is a self-taught guitarist and plays hand bells for Methodist churches in Dillsburg and Mechanicsburg. She has played internationally with the hand bell choir from Mechanicsburg.

She grew up in Reading, PA and attended Millersville University where she studied German. She was a foreign exchange student in Gothenburg, Sweden when she was 17 years old. Amy worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an accountant and retired 6 years ago. She and her husband have lived in Dillsburg for 31 years. The thing she loves best about our small town is the sense of community among its citizens.

There are lots of volunteer opportunities at the library! Whether you staff the front desk or work behind the scenes, volunteering at the library is a great way to meet new people and give back to your community. Stop by for a volunteer application today!
