Volunteer Spotlight: Christine

Christine Gibson has volunteered at the Dillsburg Public Library for 18 years. Her favorite thing about volunteering at the library is meeting new people and getting to know them. She also appreciates easy access to all the new books and movies on the shelves! An avid reader, Christine’s favorite book is The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd.

Her father worked for the Army. She was born in France and lived there until the age of 5. Growing up in Germany, she attended the DODDS Overseas schools. She is fluent in French, and travels to the tiny village of Puycelci in the Southwestern corner of France to visit her mother every year.

Christine was a full-time mom until her daughter entered school, then went back to work part-time. She currently works as a merchandiser for the American Greetings company. She has lived in Dillsburg for 20 years and has been married for 35 years. Her favorite thing about living in Dillsburg is the close community and the beauty of the surrounding countryside.

There are lots of volunteer opportunities at the library! Whether you staff the front desk or work behind the scenes, volunteering at the library is a great way to meet new people and give back to your community. Stop by for a volunteer application today!
