Preserving Documents and Photos Digitization Event

The Dillsburg Area Public Library is hosting a digitization event on November 1, 2, and 3. This event will allow the public to use scanning equipment digitial copies of physical photos, documents, and VHS tape. The York-Adams Library District allows its member libraries to borrow this equipment through the Scan PA program offered by the Office of Commonwealth Libraries

Digitization for creation of a electronic copy of potentially fragile or rare items. Digital copies are easier to store and share with others, allowing the original to be better preserved for the future.

At the Dillsburg Area Public Library, the public will have the opportunity to sign up for 2 hour blocks of time to use the equipment during the 3 day event. The equipment is largely self service, although a brief tutorial and trouble shooting assistance will be offered. (Please note that digitization of VHS tapes takes place in real time: a 30 minute VHS tape takes 30 minutes to copy)

The event will run on the following days and times:

November 1: 10am-12pm,  12pm-2pm, 2pm-4pm, 4pm-6pm, 6pm-8pm

November 2: 10am-12pm,  12pm-2pm

November 3: 10am-12pm,  12pm-2pm, 2pm-4pm
