Libraries and Troops

Recently, some items from the old Baltimore St. library found their way on to my desk. Among these items was a cased flag that was presented to the library nearly a decade ago. From what I could gather from two accompanying certificates and a letter, this flag was presented to the Dillsburg Area Public Library by Task Force Diablo in appreciation of a donation of reading material while it served in Iraq in 2009. The task force was made up of members of the 2-104th General Support Aviation Battalion of the Pennsylvania National Guard and was commanded by Scott Perry, currently a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Libraries do much for the community, even when members of our community are so far away. Of course this is of little significance compared to the dangers that they face, but libraries all across America do things large and small for our men and women in uniform. We try to make a big impact and bring some comforts of home to those oversees!
