Friends Of Collinsville Community Library

Our Friends share their time, talents, and resources in many ways including:

  • Volunteering alongside library staff
  • Managing the Second Reads Used Book Shop
  • Raising money for the library
  • Creating special fundraising events like the Holiday Basket Auction and Spring Yard Sale

Recent Friends Projects

Thank You, Friends for supplying the library with an updated main desk, the Second Read Used Book Shop, a new storage shed, and a new expandable table. We could not have done it without you!

Meet Our Friends Group

Jimi Timmer
President
Retired MP (Army) & Retired postal worker
Jimi has an amazing green thumb and cultivates our landscaping. In addition to being a desk volunteer, she coordinates her therapy dog volunteers as part of our Library Tales for Tails program and at UPMC. Jimi further serves the community as an active member of South-Central PA Search and Rescue, the library’s non-profit partner for Give Local York.

Linda Buttner
Vice-President
Retired Teacher/Retail
Linda is an active Friends Group Member and has aided the library by serving as a desk volunteer, assembly helper, and character volunteer.

Ronald Rice
Treasurer
Retired Navy Intelligence
Ron has been a treasurer for the Friends Group for several years. Within the library, he works full day shifts as a desk volunteer and serves as Collinsville’s on-site tech specialist.

Regina Mejo
Secretary
Retired Retail and Active Home School Instructor
Regina does a great job as Secretary taking meeting notes, sending press releases, and with public relations duties. Regina also serves as a library volunteer.

Betty Kauffman

Enviroclean Septic Services Retiree
Betty is very well connected within our community and a long-time library advocate. From desk volunteer, to knitting coach she is the go-to gal for help.

Jan Shaffer

Retired Counselor
Jan, a previous Officer of the Friends Group, serves as an active member of both the Friends Group and the library. She continues to volunteer at the main desk as well as managing the Second Read Used Book Store.

Rita Persing
Group Member
Retired LIU#12 Paraprofessional / Church Organist
Rita started volunteering at the Collinsville Library, mainly with Storytime and Lego Club, and then joined the Friends Group. Rita is active in two local book clubs, Red Lion’s Green Thumb Garden Club, and is a volunteer at Our Daily Bread; so, we are thrilled she made time to assist the library. Additionally, you may have had the pleasure of hearing Rita play the autoharp at the library or locally.

Vicki Waltermyer

Retired civilian Employee of the US Army
Vicki, a previous Officer of the Friends Group, serves an active role in the community and the library. She has been involved with the library since childhood! Vicki is a wealth of information regarding the library’s history and our various fundraising endeavors. You may have seen her playing her clarinet with the Red Lion Felton Band.
