2021 Annual Appeal

Guthrie Memorial Library
     and You….
    better together

Community. This is the forefront of our mission:
to create a welcoming environment that represents education,
recreation, and progress, forming cultural connections that join
people together. We know that none of us can stand alone in
this world, all great things that we can achieve happen through
partnership and collaboration. We are, truly, better together.

We had high hopes for 2021, but in many ways we are still
in the “new normal” that 2020 brought us. Our biggest annual
fundraising activities ― like Summer Solstice and the Friends Book
Sale ― were still not able to happen this year (though we are
hopeful for 2022!). Your gift to the library ― in any amount ― is
vital to keeping our doors open and allowing us to maintain the
important programs and services that we continue to offer to
community residents of all ages and from all walks of life.

Guthrie Memorial Library is the heart of the greater Hanover
community, providing inspiration, connection, and information
for children, teens, adults, families, and seniors. Our programs
and resources continue to expand every day as we navigate
our new normal. During the pandemic, we piloted new initiatives
such as virtual story times and curbside service, and now that
we have fully re-opened, we have discovered that the need
for those virtual services is still here ― which means continuing
to provide twice as many services as before, in both virtual and
in-person formats. However, public funding has not grown along-side
these expanded services, and we must increasingly rely on
generous financial support from community members like you in
order to keep our doors open
