New! Sensory Story Time at Guthrie Memorial Library!

Last June YCCF, or York County Community Foundation, awarded York County Libraries with a $6,000 Grant for Sensory Story Times. Sensory Story Time is designed to engage children, especially those with sensory integration challenges, through the use of story, music and movement. Because of the success Sensory Story Times have had in other libraries throughout the county, the program is continuing this year-at our library!
Sensory Story Times were developed by therapists at Connections Early Intervention and Support, a York-based agency. Their therapists assist children birth to five years with a variety of different diagnoses and challenges such as Developmental delay, autism spectrum disorder, speech and language delay, sensory processing disorder, Down Syndrome, orthopedic and neurological disabilities and other developmental issues. They also offer free early intervention services to qualified families from birth to three years in Adams and York Counties.
During our month-long series of Sensory Story Times here at Guthrie Memorial Library, we will have a variety of sensory activities including visual schedules, stories, movement and other activities while having therapists on-hand to observe and assist families with questions.

Our program is every Wednesday in February from 10:15AM-11AM for ages 3 through 5. Registration is required for this program. For more information please contact the Children’s Department at 717-632-5183 ext. 6220.
