A Summer Read 2020 — Videos & Resources

Each summer, York County Libraries partners with community health organizations to read a health-focused book and discuss the issues raised in it. In 2020, we explored the book Option B, which deals with best practices for a healthy mind under unexpected circumstances.

Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy is authored by Sheryl Sandberg and Adam Grant. It is a powerful, inspiring, and practical book that Sandberg wrote after suffering a loss that upended her life. Option B offers readers steps to build resilience and ways to move forward in a healthy way after life’s inevitable setbacks.

In August and September of 2020, York County Libraries hosted a series of discussions online honing in on various situations that call for resilience. Our participants found these discussions to be so helpful that we’ve decided to gather a set of resources for our library members to explore at their leisure. We have video recordings of the live discussions for each week; community resources that address the issues raised; and book selections available through York County Libraries.

Didn’t read the book yet? That’s fine! You can place a hold on Option B with your York County Libraries card on our website. There are print, CD audio, ebook, and eAudio versions available.
