Start foundations for reading with FUN!

Like brochures and info sheets? Stop in and stock up on Cruise into Kindergarten Activity Cards from the PA Public Libraries, the Early Childhood Literacy sheet promoting Talk, Sing, Read, Write and Play as foundational activities for future readers, and the most recent Central Penn Parent magazine. I could continue, but instead I want to talk about what there is TO DO in our children’s area.
Browse books, read books here, and borrow books top the list. This summer you could even read in our reading hut created by readers for readers from water bottles. I think we might surprise some folks who have not visited recently with the train table interactive play station (at the time of this writing we have a grocery store set up). We also have three large bookcases lined with bins stuffed with active play sets.
We have the traditional quiet puzzles and puppets. We also have the very popular Magna-tiles. You will see building materials you may not know existed.
Thanks to the generosity of the PA Library STEM grants and our Friends group, we have multiple sets of the most popular items allowing many children to build and create together. While it may not look like Engineering, it really is happening. Along with the play, we have social skills and problem solving taking place. Toss in a little decision-making and persistence and your child is getting ready for school as they are building the foundations to be ready to read. Clearview staff share learning activities from their C.U.B.S. sessions and more! Stop in and let Collinsville Library be part of your Talk, Sing, Read, Write and Play reading strategy.
