I am Lucille L. Brown – M.- Latterman, the Library Assistant at Collinsville Community Library. I am blessed to have worked for YCLS Collinsville for approx. 3 years. (Time flies when you are having fun!) The favorite part of my job to me is being able to enlighten and help patrons, be it finding a book, previewing an audiobook, finding lost relatives, steering them to alternative help agencies, helping a young one find their first book, or helping an elder find their new favorite book. I have volunteered or worked in libraries since the 4th grade, in many departments, from procurement to withdraw.
I enjoy the sensory titillations and aromatic whispers of opening a new book for the first time, the satin feel of a well-read novel, and brilliant illustrations of a new children’s adventure waiting to be told. In addition to all of that, I enjoy the intimate atmosphere of our Collinsville, while holding that air of mental enrichment, and astute reverence, it still feels like home. Everyone feels welcome and safe here.
When I am not at the library, I can be found being a mom, nanna, wife & meanie; reading, listening to a new audiobook while doing housework ?, knitting, sewing, doing bible studies. My favorite author is John10:28-30. It is my base and allows me freedom to grow, to help, to search, and be secure.
