Miss Pennsylvania’s Teen to Visit Kaltreider-Benfer Library

RED LION, PA – Miss Pennsylvania’s Teen Lizzie Shacklett will visit Kaltreider-Benfer Library in Red Lion on Saturday, April 20. She will be there from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. to present a special story time for children and families. During the event, Shacklett will share her experience as Miss Pennsylvania’s Teen, read the book she authored, “I Read Before Bed” and lead children in a bookmark craft. The program is free and does not require registration to attend.

A native of Radnor, Pennsylvania, Lizzie Shacklett is an honors student, competitive Irish step dancer, advocate for children’s literacy, and the founder of the nonprofit Literacy Is Lit: Finding and Filling the Literacy Gap. She collects and distributes books to organizations that support children who lack access to the academic resources they need to succeed.

“Lizzie is an exceptional teen whose dedication to literacy and to getting books into the hands of children is inspiring,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert. “We are delighted that she is coming to share her book and talents with families.”

Anyone with questions about the event should call Kaltreider-Benfer Library Youth Services Coordinator Kelli Tuffy at (717) 244-2032.
