The ongoing transformation at Kaltreider-Benfer Library is progressing on schedule. From the outside, members passing by can see the new roof and exterior siding going into place. Inside, the wall that temporarily separated the library from its new addition has been removed.
Work is moving forward in multiple areas of the library and includes interior and exterior lighting, drywall, and ceiling grids. In addition, the circulation desk is ready for casework, and flooring will start in January. Construction is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2023.
Holiday Hours Observed
Kaltreider- Benfer Library will be closed on Friday, Dec. 23, Monday, Dec. 26, Friday, Dec. 30 and Monday Jan. 2 for the holidays. Books may be renewed online at yorklibraries.org or by calling and leaving a message at 717-244-2032. For further assistance, email [email protected] or send a message through the library’s Facebook page.
Library Services at Temporary Site
During construction, the library is offering limited services at Windsor Manor Elementary School. The temporary site is located at 2110 Windsor Road, Rear Door 5A. Turn onto Second Street to access the school’s rear entrance. There is no way to drive around the building from the front.
In addition to browsing select collection items, members can scan and make copies at the library, and access printing services by emailing files to be printed. Unavailable services include faxing, computer access, restrooms, and seating. See a detailed list of our current services below.
Because the library does not have a book drop at the school, after-hours book return is not available. Library materials should be returned during Kaltreider’s operating hours or dropped off at any YCL location. Find one here.
