June 1st: Additional Services & Hours

Visit open.yorklibraries.org

What’s happening?

York County Libraries will expand in-library services and hours at several locations starting Tuesday, June 1.  The libraries will be shifting from their current browse and go model to one that can accommodate members who want to stay a little longer. There are two exceptions.  Kreutz Creek Library in Hellam will continue with lobby pickup only and Martin Library in York will not add seating and computers.  Both are due to current renovation and construction projects.

What’s new!

  • Come on in! Browse the shelves at most YCL locations* and pick up your holds at the desk
  • Computer access will resume at most YCL locations**
  • Printer, copier, fax access will also resume at most YCL locations**
  • Wi-Fi remains accessible at all of our locations
  • Most high-touch items are coming back into circulation, like magazines and board books
  • Quarantining of materials will cease
  • Materials will return to a 3-week checkout period, so wait times for holds will be shorter!
  • In-person programming will slowly resume
  • Seating and furniture will return to most YCL locations*

** Martin Library and Kreutz Creek Library are undergoing construction and will not have some services available, such as computer access and seating. Kreutz Creek Library will offer lobby pickup only.

Please note:

  • PA’s mask mandate remains in effect until Pennsylvania is at 70%+ vaccination rate. Therefore, masks are still required for those aged 2 and up for entry into our buildings and when attending outdoor library events
  • SummerQuest events will remain online and outdoors as planned except in inclement weather
  • Sanitizer is still going to be available. No sense spreading germs if we don’t have to!
  • Can’t wear a mask? We’re happy to help. Please contact your local library directly for accommodation
