Winter Reading Challenge 2021: Books Like Us

From January 1st to January 31st, York County Libraries will participate in Beanstack’s National Winter Reading Challenge, sponsored by Simon & Schuster. This year’s theme, Books Like Us, showcases diverse authors and stories, and encourages readers to explore titles from the featured authors.

Beanstack is our digital logging software that has allowed our readers to track over 20 MILLION minutes of reading- and that’s only since 2017!

We challenge our members (of ALL ages) to read at least 500 minutes during the month and keep track of their reading on our Beanstack site at yorklibraries.beanstack.org. Hundreds of libraries and schools across the nation will encourage their communities to read a target number of minutes and books.

With your help, we hope to achieve a total of 400,000 minutes logged for the month of January! During last year’s #WinterRead, we surpassed our goal by over 4,000%!

Win Prizes for Your Library

Prizes will include book collections and virtual author visits. Ten (10) winning schools or libraries will each get a collection of fifty (50) books from the “Books Like Us” collection.

    • A York County Libraries card is required to register. Visit any library or fill out our online form to apply for one today.
  2. Register for the #WinterRead2021 Challenge on January 1, 2021, or pre-register starting December 18!

  3. Log your minutes throughout the month, and unlock virtual badges for each minute-milestone you achieve.

Already logged 500 minutes? Keep logging! For each additional minute logged, you’re helping us reach our county-wide goal of 400,000 minutes.

Happy reading, York County!
