Governor Wolf proclaimed September 2019 to be Library Card Sign-Up Month in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and we’re excited!
Have you heard?
York County Libraries is celebrating Library Card Sign-Up Month! In 2019, we have over 250,000 cardholders county-wide. If you’d like to be one of our card holders, just visit the online form here: https://bit.ly/2Uk9zL2
You can also use this form to update or renew the information on your existing YCL card, or get a replacement card if you’ve lost yours. Then come visit one of our 13 buildings and check out what’s new!
National online contest

The American Library Association (ALA) is making your library card even better! Take a photo of yourself with your library card and post it to Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #GetLibraryCarded, and you’ll be entered to WIN a $100 Visa Gift Card from the ALA.
Facebook users, just post your picture directly to the “I Love Libraries” (@ILoveLIbraries) Facebook page to enter. There will be one winner nationwide. It might be you! Read all the rules & regulations here: http://www.ala.org/conferencesevents/sites/ala.org.conferencesevents/files/content/LCSUM-official_rules-2019.pdf.
GOAL
Another part of our month-long celebration is our GOAL program: Grade One at the Library. Our aim is to get every first grader in York County their very own library card, because it’s a life-long learning tool. Parents, watch for info being sent home from your child’s school in September. GOAL participants get prizes just for visiting the library! Clifford the Big Red Dog will visit schools mid-month, and classes that have 100% participation get to attend a special event in November!
Book Sales
September is a big book sale month in York County Libraries. Many of these events include baked goods and crafts or jewelry, too! The proceeds from these sales support day-to-day library services at each building.
While you’re browsing, stop by the library’s desk to get or update your library card. Pick up a flyer to find out what’s happening—because what you can do at the library just might surprise you!
