Martin Library to Recognize Anthony P. Campisi

YORK, PA – The Martin Library Honors Committee will recognize Anthony P. Campisi as its fall 2023 honoree during an upcoming ceremony and reception. The event will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, at Martin Library in York. Individuals interested in attending the Martin Honors event should register at donate.yorklibraries.org.

“We are delighted to recognize Tony for his outstanding service to our libraries and the York County community. As the former president and longtime member of the Martin Library Board of Directors, his exemplary leadership has fostered significant library growth and development,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert. “Of special note, Tony was instrumental in the success of two capital campaigns which led to library expansion and improvements that serve the entire community.”

The fall honors ceremony will feature tributes to Campisi by several guest speakers. They include Pete Brubaker, president of Hammer Creek Enterprises, LLC; Dave Kennedy, chairman of the Powder Mill Foundation Board of Trustees; and Larry Miller, president/CEO of PeoplesBank Charitable Foundation.

Campisi is the chairman of the board at the Glatfelter Insurance Group and most recently served as president and CEO from 1999 to 2020. Joining the organization in 1980, he also held the positions of executive vice president of operations and vice president of finance. Campisi holds a CPCU Designation, a B.S. in Accounting and Finance from York College of Pennsylvania and is a Graduate of the Insurance Agency Management Program of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

In addition to his work, he is actively involved in 15 community organizations, including the International Association of Fire Chiefs Foundation, York College of Pennsylvania, Penn-Mar Human Services, Crispus Attucks York, and Better York. Campisi has received several awards, including the Penn-Mar Human Services 2019 Distinguished Humanitarian Award and the Central Penn Business Journal 2019 Icon Award.

A key component of the Martin Honors event is establishing a perpetual fund to purchase books in the honoree’s name. The Martin Honors Committee is chaired by Lori Rene Weyant, with members Robert Cox, Brenda Elby, Lynne Danyo, Robert F. Lambert, Donna Pullo, and Liz Dellinger.

Serving the community since 1935, Martin is one of York County’s oldest libraries and is a branch of York County Libraries. Located at 159 E. Market Street in the City of York, it is recognized as a PA Forward Gold Star library for its outstanding provision of programs and resources to community members. Martin Library also holds the distinguished honor of being the first library to receive the Library of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania Library Association.
