Teen Advisory Groups

Group Of Teens Sitting On Floor Talking

Teens have a say in their libraries!

Teen Advisory Groups (TAGs) are sometimes called TAB (Teen Advisory Boards) or TLG (Teen Leadership Groups). Whatever their name, they all provide teen library users the chance to shape the library to meet their needs! This may include helping to suggest library programs, raising topics that teens would like to discuss, or recommending items that teen users would like to see in their local libraries. Being a TAB member also means you’re first in line for great volunteer opportunities (which look great on a resume or college application).

Get involved

Ask your local library staff and volunteers for more information about their Teen Advisory Groups, meeting times, and how to join. Some meet on Zoom, some meet in the library, and some use a combination!

While not every library in York County has a Teen Advisory Group right now, most libraries provide unique programs and events specifically designed for teens to enjoy. Visit our Events Calendar to find upcoming events near you!

Looking for other ways to get involved? Volunteer at the library!

If you are 12 or older, we invite you to join our team of volunteers! Every library offers different experiences and opportunities for their volunteers such as supporting programs and events, shelving books, preparing program materials, and more.

While volunteering is a great way to gain leadership and teamwork skills, your work supports York County Libraries’ mission of strengthening the community and enriching individual lives.

Participate in special events

Teens in grades 9-12 have two special opportunities to join in a day of learning and growth.

Our Youth Empowerment Summit (YES) encourages teens to explore their interests and post-school options through interactive sessions and discussion.

Part of the Story is a book-based program where teens explore an important, real-life issue affecting them and their communities through a book written by a regional author.
