Make the GOAL!
Your first-grade student is learning to read—an exciting time for them! Reading is the key to a lifelong love of learning and growing. Help your first grader succeed by signing them up for the Grade One At the Library (GOAL) program, presented in partnership with PeoplesBank®. GOAL helps first-graders around York County gain access to the books, special programs, and technology available to them when they get their very own library card—all for free!
Then as they make visits to the library and check out books, they get some fun prizes to help build a good habit. First grade classrooms with 100% participation can get extra bonuses!
Each September, library staff visit first-grade classrooms and encourage students to join GOAL. Please look for information from your first-grade teachers!

Annual Celebration & Prizes
Stop by your local library through December 30th to pick up your prizes. Don’t forget to tell our library staff that you’re a GOAL participant when you visit!
Participant Prizes
With your first three visits to the library, you will receive a new prize to take home with you! From year to year, our prizes change, but our third and final prize will always include the featured book of the year. This featured book becomes the center of our Campaign Celebration at the end of the 3-month program.
Campaign Celebration & Author Visit
Our GOAL celebration will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at Martin Library this year. Be on the lookout for details in the fall!
Classroom Prizes
Teachers who achieve 100% student participation will be entered in three drawings:
