All About Family Place Libraries™
Family Place Workshops encourages growth through play and interaction.
Over a 5-week period, children ages birth to 5* years and their grown-ups are given the opportunity to play with each other in a comfortable, supportive environment. Small group size means that kids can make friends with each other (parents, too!)
While the kids play and learn, parents and caregivers have the chance to speak with developmental specialists from the community. Parents can discuss the latest childrearing topics, ask questions of the specialists, and even get suggestions or referrals for any concerns about their child’s development. These sessions are offered for free. Registration is generally required.
*Age range may vary at each library
Family Place Workshop sessions are held throughout the year at Martin Library (York), Guthrie Memorial Library (Hanover), and Kreutz Creek Library (Hellam). These libraries also welcome families for Family Place events that are not part of a Workshop series.

Play Groups
Once a family has completed one of our 5-week Workshop sessions, they are invited to join our weekly play groups! During this hour of free play, kids get to play with toys and meet other kids, while parents can meet and talk with other local parents. It’s a wonderful way to build a support network with other parents.
