York Cosplay! Con for Teens Slated November 21

YORK, PA – York County Libraries (YCL) will hold its annual “York Cosplay! Con” at Martin Library from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21. Geared to youth, ages 12-18, the event features a Teen Cosplay Fashion Show, a fandom trade table, and selfie stations. “York Cosplay! Con” welcomes all fandoms including comics, anime, manga, role-playing games, television series, books, and movies. Registration is underway now through Friday, November 20 at yorklibraries.org/york-cosplay.

“The teens never fail to impress with the creativity and care that goes into their looks,” says York County Libraries Youth Services Director Mindy McDonnell. “You really can’t beat the atmosphere in the library during ‘York Cosplay! Con.’ Everyone, from the teens to the audience during the fashion show, is wonderfully enthusiastic and supportive.”

The Teen Cosplay Fashion Show provides participants with an opportunity to share the results of their efforts with family, friends, and community. Recent library workshops offered guidance on topics including how to create costumes and embody characters.

According to McDonnell, parents are encouraged to drop off their teens for the event at 11:00 a.m. and then come back for the 1:00 p.m. Teen Cosplay Fashion Show. Family and friends are invited to watch the show and can wear their own costumes to add to the atmosphere.

“Each year, it is amazing to see the results of the teens’ efforts in creating the costumes and personas of their characters,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert. “The library offers a safe space where teens can build skills and self-confidence. Their growth and creativity truly shine during the fashion show.”
