Martin Library Honors Donna Pullo
YORK, PA – The Martin Library Honors Committee will recognize Donna Pullo as its Fall 2026 Honoree for her dedication to libraries and the York community. A ceremony and reception will be held in her honor at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 18 at Martin Library in York. Individuals interested in attending should register at donate.yorklibraries.org by November 10.
The honors ceremony will feature tributes to Pullo by several guest speakers. They include her daughter Julie Pullo-Hess, executive director, Life Changing Pathways; Bobbi Ann DeLeo, retired executive director, York Literacy Institute; Jody Keller, community advocate; and Don Gogniat, chancellor emeritus, Penn State York.
“In addition to being the longest serving member of the Honors Committee for over 30 years, Donna is a member of the Martin Library Legacy Society,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert. “Donna believes we should all leave a place richer for having found it. We are so appreciative of her decades of service to the library, and we are delighted to celebrate her on November 18.”
Her love of books started at an early age and continues to this day. Most recently she sponsored, and helped fill, a library room at the new Girl Scout Headquarters. Pullo’s legacy of service to the community is extensive. She has helped raise funds for numerous York nonprofits and has served on the York Literacy Institute Development Committee. In addition, she has served on the boards of OLLI at Penn State York and the York Youth Symphony Orchestra.
A key component of the Martin Honors event is establishing a perpetual fund to purchase books in the honoree’s name. Contributions are welcome by donating securely online at donate.yorklibraries.org or by mail to Martin Library Honors Fund, 159 East Market Street, York, PA 17401. Anyone with questions can contact the Development Department at 717-849-6927 or development@yorklibraries.org.
The Martin Library Honors Committee is chaired by Lori Rene Weyant, with members Robert Cox, Liz Dellinger, Robert F. Lambert, Donna Pullo, Kelley Gibson, Patrick Ball, and honorary member Lynne Danyo.
Serving the community since 1935, Martin Library is one of York County’s oldest libraries and is a branch of York County Libraries. Located at 159 E. Market Street in the City of York, it is recognized as a PA Forward Gold Star library for its outstanding provision of programs and resources to community members. Martin Library also holds the distinguished honor of being the first library to receive the Library of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania Library Association.
