Leap into Science at York County Libraries
YORK, PA – Youth in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to participate in Leap into Science: Wild World at York County Libraries this summer. The interactive STEAM program will explore animals and how to help protect them and their habitats. There is no cost to attend. Additional details are available at events.yorklibraries.org.
“Leap into Science perfectly combines two amazing things–great children’s books and fun, hands-on science activities,” says York County Libraries Youth Services Director Mindy McDonnell. “I know this summer’s participants will learn a lot about animals and their habitats and hope that, after the program, they will be inspired to borrow a book or two to learn even more.”
Developed by The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, Leap into Science is a national program that integrates open-ended science activities with children’s books for young children and their families.

“Exploring science at the library expands a child’s curiosity, vocabulary, and knowledge about the world around them,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert. “Interactive programs like Leap into Science fuel a child’s interest in reading and learning more.”
This year’s SummerQuest program is made possible thanks to the generous support of Capital Blue Cross, C&N, First National Bank, Graham Capital Company, Kinsley Construction, Kinsley Steel, M&T Bank, Traditions Bank a Division of ACNB Bank, Univest Financial, Walton & Company, Waste Management, Weis Markets, and York Precision Machining and Hydraulics. This aids YCL’s delivery of a robust SummerQuest program that inspires students to keep learning during summer vacation and provides literacy opportunities for all.
