Welcome to Kaltreider-Benfer Library, where we place children and early literacy at the center of our library mission! Our friendly staff get to know you and your children by name. The library’s close ties to area educators enable us to offer innovative programming that meets state standards for early childhood education. Our recently renovated library adds more space for children’s programming, a space for teens and big windows that let in plenty of natural light. Everyone in the family can access our reliable high-speed internet, find bestselling books to enjoy, and attend educational and engaging programs.

Literacy for Change, a bold, community-powered crowdfunding initiative is designed to raise $500,000 annually to expand literacy access across York County. Through a 24- hour online day of giving on October 10, 2025, YCL will mobilize thousands of library champions to help us expand literacy and learning county-wide.
