What is your source of inspiration?
Source of inspiration is generally music or things that are currently happening in the world. On their face a painting can depict one thing but have a different meaning for myself or the viewer.
How would you describe your art?
There is no one description for my art. Although I’ve been told my work can be identified the best description is thought provoking
I enjoy creating any work that speaks to someone
What do you enjoy most about creating new art? Do you have a favourite medium? Has your preference changed over the year?
Starting new work has no method or time frame whenever the mood strikes so does the paint on a canvas.
There is no go to technique – I like to grow as an artist, therefore, I like to experiment.
I generally work in acrylic, charcoal and ink.
Do you ever experience a creative block? If so, how do you rejuvenate your creativity?
Creative blocks do come but I never rush or push a piece. I let it take control and when my mind is ready so am I. To rejuvenate I just let the work flow otherwise this prevents my creative process from flowing.
Do you have a favourite/inspirational quote?
No quote inspires me per se many things in life influence me
Do you have any current or future projects you’d like to share?
I’m constantly thinking about potential subjects. that can take several months in my mind before I take an idea to canvas.
If someone is interested in your work, how can they reach you?
I can be found on Facebook (Dan Stencovage), instagram (@sten59), linkedin (Dan Stencovage), I primarily can be found in the sales galleries at The Smith Gallery and Custom Framing in New Cumberland, Art Association of Harrisburg and CALC in Carlisle and I frequently exhibit in other locations in the Harrisburg area. Recently, I’ve exhibited at the Perry County Arts Council, Yellowbird Cafe, St. Thomas Roasters, Elementary Coffee House, Little Amps, Sweet tea and greens, and the Harrisburg LGBTQ Center.
Note: For almost my entire life (soon to be 67 in December) I’m socially and professionally known as “Sten”
