Storybook Character Penelope Rex to Visit York County Libraries
YORK, PA – Storybook character Penelope Rex is visiting library locations across the county from August 4 – August 14 as part of the annual York County Libraries SummerQuest program. Collectively, the libraries have planned hundreds of activities surrounding this summer’s “Unearth A Story™” theme for community members to enjoy. “If you haven’t read Ryan Higgins’ delightful Penelope Rex books, go pick one up at your local library, and don’t be surprised when you find yourself laughing out loud,” says York County Libraries Youth Services Director Mindy McDonnell. “Then, bring the children to the library for a chance to meet Penelope. The programs will also include stories and photo opportunities with everyone’s favorite t-rex.”

Tuesday, August 11, 4:00 p.m., Collinsville Community Library, Brogue
Wednesday, August 12, 10:30 a.m., Glatfelter Memorial Library, Spring Grove
Wednesday, August 12, 3:00 p.m., Arthur Hufnagel Public Library of Glen Rock

“There is something very special about meeting your favorite storybook characters in person,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert. “Children love seeing the life-size version of the characters they read about in their books.”
This year’s SummerQuest program is made possible thanks to the generous support of Capital Blue Cross, C&N, First National Bank, Graham Capital Company, Kinsley Construction, Kinsley Steel, M&T Bank, Traditions Bank a Division of ACNB Bank, Univest Financial, Walton & Company, Waste Management, Weis Markets, and York Precision Machining and Hydraulics. This aids YCL’s delivery of a robust SummerQuest program that inspires students to keep learning during summer vacation and provides literacy opportunities for all.
