In June, Junior Scouts from Troop 20839 organized a stuffed animal sleepover at Mason-Dixon Library in Stewartstown.
The scouts are working toward their bronze award, the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can earn.
The Scouts’ Project
The goal of the award project is to make the community a better place. What better place to connect with the local community than at the library!
The scouts helped the library by running a popular program during
SummerQuest, when the staff needs extra help through volunteers to make all of the programming a reality.
They were responsible for developing, organizing, and executing their ideas for how to run the program.
Staff says…
“They did a fantastic job! There were multiple activities for participants to enjoy and well-thought-out stations placed throughout the library.
The troop even tied the sleepover into this year’s “Unearth A Story” theme through dinosaur footprints leading from station to station and a Jurassic photobooth.
Even though some children were reluctant to say goodbye to their stuffed animal friends for the night, the troops were very reassuring, and helped our library friends give each stuffed animal a “shot of love” at the vet station to ensure the stuffies were ready for a night away from home. We were impressed by the scouts’ leadership and organization!”
By the Numbers
About 30 stuffies stayed the night at the library. 10 scouts were involved in leading the event, and many more parents/troop leaders helped during this event, too!
