John and Rebecca Kelly are the Dillsburg Area Public Library featured artists for May and June 2026!
John Kelly
John Kelly began painting three years ago and has quickly developed a strong voice as an abstract artist, working primarily in acrylics. His work is driven by color, movement, and texture, inviting viewers to pause and engage with each piece on a personal level.
In this exhibit, John also explores oil painting for the first time. The images featured here are based on photographs he personally captured in Hanover, Pennsylvania, and the surrounding area, transforming familiar local scenes into expressive interpretations.
Dedicated to growth, John enjoys studying art history and continually experimenting with new mediums and styles. His goal as an artist is to draw the viewer in and hold their attention, creating work that encourages reflection and lasting connection.
Rebecca Kelly
Rebecca Kelly has been connected to art for most of her life, inspired early on by her mother, a gifted artist. Rebecca earned an Associate’s Degree in Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1986 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1990.
Working primarily in acrylics, Rebecca embraces the freedom of abstract painting while also creating portraits and detailed drawings. She often incorporates collage and mixed media into her work, and she especially enjoys creating fabric art. This exhibit includes mixed media and collage landscapes, as well as the same scene explored in different forms—painted realistically, abstractly and also re-imagined in fabric.
Striving for balance in every composition, Rebecca carefully places highlights and special touches that guide the viewer’s eye across the canvas, creating movement, harmony, and visual interest.
John and Rebecca have been happily married for 25 years and live in Hanover, PA.

Library hours are 10am-8pm Monday to Thursday, 10am-3pm Friday, and 10am-5pm Saturday. Note: Between July 1 and Labor Day, Saturday hours are 10am-3pm.
