Martin Library to Participate in 2025 GivingTuesday

YORK, PA – Martin Library in York will participate in this year’s global initiative, GivingTuesday on Tuesday, December 2. The annual event inspires community members to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity on the same day, worldwide.

“Martin Library is far more than a building. It is a vibrant hub of learning, creativity, and connection,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert. “Its new Community Conversation series brings professionals and community members together to explore critical issues such as teen mental health and adult safety. This is just one example of how the library continues to evolve and respond to the needs of the community.”

In 2024 alone, the library delivered 728 programs for 12,633 children, teens, and adults. They were among the 112,286 visitors to the library who enjoyed programs, used the library’s Wi-Fi and public access computers and borrowed 154,456 items.

According to Lambert, every contribution fuels discovery and opportunity. Whether it is a child choosing their favorite book, a job seeker improving skills and finding resources, or a senior enjoying an event, community support makes it possible.  Individuals interested in donating to Martin Library or their local library on GivingTuesday, or as part of their year-end giving, can do so at donate.yorklibraries.org

Martin Library, located at 159 E. Market Street in York, PA, has served the community since 1935, and is a branch of York County Libraries. It is recognized as a Gold Star library for its outstanding programs that help community members build the five core literacies championed by the Pennsylvania Library Association PA Forward® program. Literacies such as basic literacy, information literacy, civic and social literacy, health literacy, and financial literacy provide the framework for balanced programs to meet the needs of the community. Martin Library has the esteemed honor of being the first to receive the Library of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania Library Association.
