Libraries Hold First York Cosplay Teen Fashion Show
YORK, PA – York County Libraries (YCL) will hold the First Annual York Cosplay Teen Fashion Show at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at Martin Library. York Cosplay is a teen program about fostering authenticity, inclusivity, and confidence through creative self-expression. Area teens will model their costumes in the library’s Quiet Reading Room. The public is welcome to attend the free event.
According to York County Libraries Interim Youth Services Director Paula Gilbert, several teens designed their costumes during the recent workshop series at the library. Local experts shared tips for character selection, fabrication, props, hair and makeup effects, and how to pull the final look together.
“This unique program helps teens acquire new skills while expanding their creative self-expression, confidence, and authenticity,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert. “They have been able to take a concept, bring it to fruition, and now share the results of their work with family, friends, and the community.”
The new workshop series and fashion show are for all fandoms, including comics, anime, manga, role-playing games, television series, books, and movies. Audience members are invited to dress in costume for the festivities. They should follow the event’s costume and prop guidelines listed at www.yorklibraries.org/york-cosplay. Anyone with questions should email York County Libraries Teen Services Program Manager Susan Korsnick at skorsnick@yorklibraries.org. The program is partially supported by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant awarded by The Office of Commonwealth Libraries.
