Kaltreider-Benfer Library Reopens April 29th

Special Events Planned for Grand Reopening Celebration

RED LION, PA – Kaltreider-Benfer Library reopens Saturday, April 29th at its recently renovated 147 S. Charles Street location in Red Lion. To celebrate the occasion, the library is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:00 a.m. followed by a grand reopening celebration from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The date also marks the 23rd Anniversary of when the library was built at that location in 2000. The library has been serving the community since 1963.

The commemorative ribbon-cutting ceremony will include comments from York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert, Kaltreider-Benfer Library Executive Director Don Dellinger, and several community leaders. “We crossed the finish line, and we are elated! With the completion of Kaltreider-Benfer Library’s construction and renovation, we’ve fulfilled the goals of our ‘Imagine. Discover. Connect’ capital campaign,” says Lambert. “This is the third of our three campaign building projects to come to fruition. Kreutz Creek Library and Martin Library were completed in 2022. And now, the time has arrived for the community to see Kaltreider-Benfer Library’s impressive transformation.”

The day’s family-friendly grand reopening festivities include a scavenger hunt for all ages from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In addition, there is a balloon drop at 10:30 a.m. in the children’s area. The Enchanted Teapot’s Enchanted Rose Princess will offer stories and a dance party from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. followed by visits with the Library Tales for Tails Therapy Dogs from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. The day’s special events wrap up with stories and photos with Red Lion and Dallastown students and mascots from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Community members with questions are encouraged to call the library at (717) 244-2032.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming everyone back into the library. The expanded building offers more space, natural lighting, and a reimagined design to better serve our members,” says Dellinger. Families will be happy to know that the tree house has a new location in the library, too.”

Starting April 29th, Kaltreider-Benfer Library will have new operating hours. The library will be open Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Saturday from 9:00 – 4:00 p.m. and will be closed on Sunday.
