What can I do at Mason-Dixon Public Library?

For Families

Coin Club

Join the Shrewsbury-Stewartstown Coin Club at the Mason-Dixon Public Library the first Thursday of each month from 6-7:30pm. Through these meetings, members are able to share the history and current information on U.S. and foreign coins.

Rhythm & Rhyme

An altogether fun, exciting and didactic literary affair is held the first Monday of each month. All are welcome to join us as we share, read, and discuss the poems of the night. As you prepare for the evening, bring three poems of your choosing (of your own or someone else’s), and be ready to read them to the group and partake in positive feedback! All are welcome!

Art Exhibition & Reception

Three times a year, our library transforms into an Art Exhibit representing local and regional artists and photographers. With this reception and exhibit, the community can come together to support the artists on display, while also supporting the local library. From your purchased pieces, the library will also receive a small percentage of the sale. With these funds, we can put more into our programs and supplies to make the library meet all the community’s needs.

For Adults

Card Classes

Take your artistic skills to a new level! Learn how to create your very own personalized greeting cards- for ANY occasion! With instructor Becky Jensen, you will learn tips, tricks, and ideas as to how your cards can be one-of-a-kind. As our classes are offered monthly, your cards will change with the time of year or holiday.

Registration is required. Cost is $18.00 for 12 cards (3 cards for each of our 4 designs). Materials will be provided. For more information, contact our instructor Becky at [email protected].

Art Classes

Get in touch with your inner artist, and let your hands go to work! During September and January, the library starts an 8- week session of adult art classes with unique lessons each week. Art teacher Nancy Wiseman will guide you through new techniques and tactics to help you along every step of your learning process. All are welcome!

Classes cost $160 for the duration of 8 weeks. Single session courses are not offered through this program. If you would like to register or have questions contact Nancy Wiseman at 717-244-9561.

Book Discussion Group

Join the Book Discussion group for an evening of energetic discussion by the library fireplace. Come prepared to chat with others about the many topics, plots, and characters of each month’s book. All are welcome!

When is this held? 1st Thursday of the Month (Except summer months), 7-8pm

Wednesday WIPs (Works in Progress)

The Wednesday WIPS (Works in Progress) meet the fourth Wednesday of each month. Bring your crochet, knitting, or other fiber arts project to the library and enjoy fine company while you stitch. Join us, a group of like-minded enthusiasts the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Feel free to bring a drink for yourself.

When is this held? 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month, 10:30am-12pm
What should I bring? Your project supplies, snacks and drink for yourself

For Kids

Art Classes

Let your hands do all the work, and see what beautiful pieces you can create with our weekly art classes! During the school year, the library offers some awesome art classes for elementary age children. From drawing, painting, and everything in between, these art classes are a great way to spark your creativity.

These are paid courses with our art instructor Molly Adler. Courses can be taken on a week to week basis as the child is able to attend.
