What can I do at Kaltreider-Benfer Library?

Additionally, each library has their own unique offerings scheduled throughout the year.

For Families

Book Nook

Get great deals on a wide selection of gently used books, videos, and music for everyone in the family!  Open at various times throughout the month, the Book Nook is a community effort to support the library through fundraising. Prices range from 10 cents to $3.  All proceeds benefit the library.  

If you are unable to make it to our Book Nook in Windsor, don’t forget that we have a mini Book Nook located right in the library!

When is this held? 1st and 2nd Monday of the month: 4-7pm; 3rd and 4th Saturday of the month: 9am-12pm

Family Literacy Night: Pajama Party

Grab your pjs and bring the whole family and join Miss Gina & guest storytellers for this fun and educational class which uses children’s literature to teach the foundations of reading. With this monthly class, the main areas of focus will be listening comprehension, print awareness, alliteration, rhythm & rhyme.  All ages are welcome.

Adult Book Discussion

Join the Adult Book Discussion group at Kaltreider-Benfer! Every month, this group gets together to discuss the current featured book, with new topics and genres changing each month. Copies of the current month’s book are available at the Circulation Desk.  New members always welcome!

Adult Movie Night

Grab some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy the movie! Join us at the library once a month for one of our free movie showings. Space is limited. Doors open at 5. Feel free to bring a friend!

Greeting Card Workshop

Take your artistic skills to a new level! Learn how to create your very own personalized greeting cards- for ANY occasion! With instructor Amanda Cohenour, you will learn tips, tricks, and ideas as to how your cards can be one-of-a-kind. As our classes are offered monthly, your cards will change with the time of year or holiday.

Registration is required. Cost is $5.00 for two cards. We ask that you provide your own double-sided adhesive, and all other materials will be provided. There are only 8 spaces available, so be sure to sign up early!

The Green Thumb Garden Club Lecture Series

Join our adult group the Knit Wits to knit, chat, and improve your skills.  Bring your needles and yarn and drop in for the fun!  No commitment, plenty of enjoyment.  This is NOT a class. New knitters always welcome!

Red Brick Book Club

Join us for a book discussion group at the Red Brick Bakery & Tearoom located at 55 N. Main St. Copies of the current month’s selection are available at the Circulation Desk. New readers always welcome! Sweets and lunch will be available for purchase.

Monday Minecraft

Explore new worlds at Monday Minecraft!  Exciting challenges test the experts and inspire the beginners at this hour-long session.  Please bring your own device.  Registration required.  Ages 5-12.

STEM-inar

Miss Jessica from the Sylvan learning center is bringing the STEM world to the library! Featuring fun stories, activities and experiments, this program takes a closer look at one of the topics in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). No registration required.  Bring a friend!

STEM programming is all the rage right now, and the Sylvan Learning Center provides this FREE curriculum based program to encourage children to develop their skills in science, technology, engineering, and math in a fun, approachable way.

Green Thumb Gardening Club Lecture Series- For Kids!

Learn about bees, butterflies, snakes!  Make a small flower bouquet, explore nature, encourage new interests! The Green Thumb Garden Club of Red Lion presents children’s lectures/activities on the 4th Saturday of every month. Recommended for children ages 7 through 12, these talks are to encourage interest in nature in a fun way.

Sensory-Friendly Literacy Class

We’ve partnered with United Cerebral Palsy of South Central PA to engage children ages 18 months to 5 years old through stories, music and movement. In this safe, non-judgmental environment, this program will include a schedule board for following along, flannel board stories, interactive book-based experiences, gentle music, yoga, playtime and socialization for the whole family. Space is limited to 10 children.

Who is this for? Toddlers and Preschoolers Ages 18 month – 5 Years
