Volunteer Spotlight: Amy VanZandt

Amy has volunteered at the Dillsburg Area Public Library for about 2 ½ years, but prior to that she was a member of our staff for 5 years, serving as the library’s Volunteer Coordinator. She enjoys the people who use the Dillsburg Library and the history of the area.

A self-described “townie”, Amy grew up in Lock Haven PA and studied Elementary Education and Library Science at Lock Haven University. She has worked in both school and public libraries; her favorite parts of the job are finding materials for library patrons and shelving returned books. She enjoys reading historical fiction and the works of children’s author Karen Beaumont.

Amy resides in Carlisle with her husband, a newly retired minister. Enthusiastic travelers, last summer they drove Rt. 66 all the way from Chicago to the Pacific Coast! Her favorite place to visit is Mackinac Island in Michigan.

Whether you staff the front desk or work behind the scenes, volunteering is a great way to meet new people and give back to your community. Stop by the library for a volunteer application today!
