Give Local York is coming up on Friday, May 1st, 2020. Give Local York is a 24-hour online day of giving celebrating non-profits all across York County. This will be the 3rd annual county-wide event, but this year will be like no other before and probably like any other to follow.
This year, we need your help more than ever. Given the current COVID-19 crisis, we have had to cancel several fundraisers which provide much needed operational funds. Additionally, given the lack of government revenue due to the economic downturn, it is likely we will see a drop in local and state appropriations for library services. Any drop in revenue will directly impact the services that we are able to provide. These services will be badly needed by many of our friends and neighbors.
You can help us help our community by donating to the Dillsburg Area Public Library through Give Local York on May 1.
We need funds to continue to be able to provide the high quality services that our community relies on. With the closure of our physical facility, our patrons have relied heavily on our digital resources (provided through York County Libraries and POWER Library) to be able to meet their needs. We have also increased our online presence through virtual story times and other interactions. We have adapted to this new reality in the best way we can!
Once we physically reopen to the public, we will be here serve our community, though in a very different world. We will need to provide high quality programs for children and adults, provide computer access for job seekers, and entertainment and reading material for many people who have lost their sources of income due to the COVID-19 crisis.
We will be have 2 special virtual events at part of Give Local York. At 10:30AM, Miss Sue will have a special storytime (ages 4+). At 1PM, Library Director Keith Greenawalt will go over some online genealogy sources. Both events will take place on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/dillsburgareapubliclibrary.
