Volunteer Spotlight: Janine

Janine Guinter has volunteered at the Dillsburg Public Library for 7 years; for the past 2 years she has been the President of the Friends of the Library, coordinating the bi-annual booksales and recruiting new Friends. Janine has always loved libraries and volunteered in her high school and nursing school libraries in the past. Her favorite book is Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. The thing she loves best about volunteering at the library is that it has helped her to make new and lasting friendships in Dillsburg, where she and her husband moved 8 years ago.

She grew up in Rohrerstown, PA near Lancaster. She studied History, Economics and Political Science at Black Hills State College in South Dakota and received her Masters’ degree from Penn State Capital Campus in Health Education. She worked as a nurse for 28 years at Lancaster General Hospital, much of that time in nursing administration as a Head Nurse. She served in the US Air Force for 32 years and worked as the Commander of the Medical Squad at Willow Grove for 6 years.

There are lots of volunteer opportunities at the library! Whether you staff the front desk or work behind the scenes, volunteering at the library is a great way to meet new people and give back to your community. Stop by for a volunteer application today!
