The Fall Book Sale at the Dillsburg Area Public Library is quickly approaching. The Friends of the Library have put in a lot of work to make this our best sale yet!
Behind the scenes, they collect, sort, and box thousands of books, DVDs, audiobooks, and puzzles. Come sale time, they set up tables and put out all the collected items all over the library. On the first day of the sale, they man the cashier table. Library staff gets involved in this team effort as well with marketing and book collection as well. (If you ever wondered how book sales work behind the scenes read this article from Book Riot).
This year’s Fall Sale run from October 13 (9am-5pm) and October 15-20 (regular library hours). October 20 is $5 Fill-A-Bag-Day.
Library book sales are a win, win win for everyone involved! The Library wins by raising needed income. In 2017, sales raised approximately $2200 to support library activities. These funds are vital in ensuring that we can continue to provide the best possible services to our community. Book donors win by having an environmental responsible way of cleaning out bookshelves and attics of unwanted clutter. Readers win by having a low cost source of gently used reading material.
The Dillsburg Area Public Library and the Friends of the Library run 2 sales per year, in the spring and fall. Books are only collected starting about 2 months before each sale due to limitations of storage space at the library. We would be happy to provide a receipt for tax purposes.
We do not take VHS tapes, audiobooks on tape, magazines, or Reader’s Digest condensed books. We also do not take any materials that are damaged, have mold or mildew, or are in other was not sellable. Please do not place donations in the book return, the Community Aid bin, or otherwise outside of the building.
