If you haven’t seen or heard of GO York, you really need to! GO York is a partnership between WellSpan and York County Libraries. Through GO York, you can visit local parks, get outdoors, and go on all kinds of adventures.
Kids and families can sign up for the Summer Quest program at any York County Libraries location and get a booklet and rubbing sheet(s). Use the clues and directions in the booklet to find posts in area parks. Make a rubbing on your rubbing sheet. Make rubbings on as many or as few of the thirty different posts as you like, but the more rubbings you make the greater your chance of winning a prize! You must do a minimum of four rubbings to be eligible for a prize. All rules and regulations can be found at GoYork.org.
In the Dillsburg area, there are two posts at Pinchot State Park (Violin and Viola) and another at Ponderosa Park (Tuba). I visited both parks recently and can tell you that (even as a thirty-something ) I had fun following the clues to each post! I went down to Zion’s View Park (Organ)
I would encourage anyone coming to the our area to stop by the Dillsburg Area Public Library and see what we’ve got to offer. We’d likewise encourage our library users to take the opportunity to visit any and all York County Libraries locations when out and about! Just as a hint and reminder: anything checked out at a library can be returned at any other York County Libraries location.
If you need any help, reach out to the GO York Facebook Group. It currently has close to 2500 members! It’s a lot of fun watching families post photos of their adventures. It’s even more fun watch those same families post photos of proud little hikers handing in their rubbing sheets at the end of the summer!
