Bookmarked: A Zoom Book Club
Bookmarked is an online book club hosted by the York County History Center in York, PA. Four times a year, they select a book focusing on an historical event or a notable place, person, or time in York County’s history. Then readers join a group Zoom call from the comfort of their own homes to discuss the book and go beyond the pages. 2023’s first Bookmarked event took place on February 27, and featured award-winning author Erik Larson’s The Splendid and the Vile, which provides an illuminating look at Churchill’s first year in office during the Blitz.

Meet the Author
On April 18 at 8pm, the York County History Center is hosting Erik Larson live on stage at the Appell Center in York at 8pm. WITF-FM’s Scott LaMar will conduct a lively interview with this author for the YCHC’s Distinguished Speaker series. Tickets are available for purchase now, but York County Libraries members can WIN tickets to attend this event!
Drawing for Library Members
Any York County Libraries cardholder* 18+ may enter to win one (1) pair of free tickets to the Erik Larson appearance at the Appell Center on April 18, 2023.
*Persons who work for or volunteer at any of our libraries, and their immediate family members, are ineligible for entry.
How to Enter
To enter, simply check out or place a hold on any of Erik Larson’s in-print or CD audiobook titles from York County Libraries between February 10 and April 1, 2023. One entry per eligible library card.
Sorry, e-Book and e-Audio titles do not qualify for entry.
All qualifying entries will receive one entry to a random drawing. This drawing will take place on or around April 3, 2023. One winner will be selected. YCL will contact the winner by the telephone and/or email associated to their YCL library card.
In the event that the first winner selected cannot be contacted or is unable to attend, a second drawing will take place. Second winner, if needed, will draw from the same pool of entrants. Second drawing, if needed, will take place on or around April 10, 2023.
Library members are responsible for ensuring their contact information is correct (email and telephone) in their library card record. You may update it yourself online here, or ask your librarian for assistance. Visit a library for assistance if your card has expired.
