Ready Reference Bookmarks - A virtual ready reference shelf with links to websites that can answer most reference questions.

YCLS Wiki Toolkit - Log in using the name of your library and the password.  If you have forgotten the password email sbankert@yorklibraries.org.  Once in the site, click on Tools.  Select Users from the drop-down menu.  Scroll down and click on sbankert.  Move through the sections of the toolkit by clicking in the menu on the left.  As you click on a section, the table of contents appears on the right.  Scroll down to see the links to the documents.  Includes a wide variety of documents, from creating an email signature to renting a character costume.  You will also find templates for bookmarks, flyers, press releases, and more.  A long list of news release contacts is also included.

Book Collections:

Big Books - Find out what Big Books are available for your next story time.  Go to the online catalog, use genre instead of keyword, and search for big books

Family Place Collection - Located at Martin Library in the Children's Library.  Titles for parents of children birth through 3 years-of-age. Many of these titles are also appropriate for librarians or early childhood educators. Topics include child development, developing early literacy, other early learning, language activities, crafts, songs, finger plays, child care and parenting. Includes some videos.  Also includes a sampling of picture books for parents to share with children.

Parent Teacher Collection - Located at Martin Library in the Children's Library.  Titles for parents and teachers of children aged 4 and up. Many of these titles are also appropriate for librarians. Topics include reading and literature for young children, home schooling, child care and parenting, preschool and primary education, storytelling, crafts, games, science activities, health, mental health, and conditions such as dyslexia, autism, deafness. There is a small reference collection mostly on children’s literature.


Professional Collection - Located at Martin Library in the 2nd Floor Information Services Office.  Ask at the desk for assistance. Titles for the staff, boards, and Friends of York-Adams District libraries on public library services for all ages.  Topics include library management, programs, buildings, collection management, fundraising, intellectual freedom, technology, reference, readers advisory, copyright, trustees, and volunteers. There are some titles on library service for youth, although titles on children’s literature, crafts, finger plays, and story time would usually be in either the Family Pace or Parent Teacher Collections.
